I attended the Vine + Flourish workshop in Seattle at the beginning of May to add a breath of fresh air to my work and to get myself in the right mindset before all of my assignments in 2017. Carly Bish and Kristen Marie Parker were the gracious hosts and masterminds behind this two-day intensive workshop and provided us not only with stories of experience and business advice, but with an opportunity to apply our newfound knowledge to a styled shoot.
We photographed a fresh table setting designed by Sara Jane Camacho of Thatch Floral, who also did all floral arrangements. Ceramics were provided by KriKri Studio and the tastiest baked goods were created by Blue Box Bakery. Dorothy Huynh designed a minimal and thoughtful paper suite and Megan Bingham of Off White Bride did hair & make-up. Bri and her husband Phil gracefully modeled for the entire group. Bri wore a flowing sleeveless silk gown by Houghton (provided by The Dress Theory) and Phil wore a crisp suit from Topman. All of these vendors together created something that felt effortless and timeless. I'll be dreaming about this for a long time.
For any photographers reading this who are considering workshops, have a look at Vine + Flourish. Not once were any of us in attendance met with vague answers or judgment - just good honesty & intention to leave us all armed with helpful knowledge and a healthy mindset.
